Geordy moved to town in October of 93. Seeking a life with sliding on the mountain, he took a job at Two Elk running the grill station. Enjoying cooking, but looking for more, he took a job at Terra Bistro in the spring of 94. Working with the skilled chefs at Terra his knowledge grew, and he rolled from prep cook, through the stations, to sous chef. He then went to cook at SaddleRidge in Beaver Creek where he was sous chef, and executive chef.
After having two beautiful boys with wife Meg, the life in the kitchen was not as appealing. He shifted paths and decided to spend more time on snow teaching skiing. To increase mobility and strength in the body, he started practicing yoga at the Cascade with Charry Morris. After practicing for several years he decided to deepen his practice by attending Karen Anderson’s teacher training in fall of 13. He has been teaching for the last few years at the Cascade and is happy to be back at the Vitality Center after twenty years.
Since starting to practice yoga Geordy’s handicap has gone down, and has stayed safe on the mountain. Geordy will tell you that yoga helps with core stability that is necessary for high performance skiing and golf. The clarity of mind can help you be more aware on the mountain,
and being present on the course for less mental errors.
